This app provides immediate access to fingerings (with alternates and trills) across the entire playable range of each instrument. It offers fingerings in both written and concert pitch for:

  • Woodwinds: Piccolo, Concert, Alto, and Bass Flutes, Oboe, Cor Anglais, Soprano, Alto, Bass, and Contrabass Clarinets, Bassoon, Contrabassoon, Soprano, Alto, Tenor, and Baritone Saxophones
  • Brass: F/Bb Double French Horn, A, Bb, C, and D Trumpets (Cornet, Flugelhorn), Bb/F Tenorbass and Bb/F/Gb/D Bass Trombones, Euphonium, Baritone, BBb, CC, Eb, and F Tubas

Additionally, the 'Piano' instrument provides note names with their locations on the piano and musical notations for up to 8 pitches in Treble, Alto, Tenor, or Bass clef. Moreover:

  • All woodwinds feature trill fingerings for minor 2nd and major 2nd intervals.
  • Flutes and Saxophones offer additional fingerings for minor 3rd and major 3rd trills.
  • Alto and Tenor Sax also include altissimo fingerings up to written F (two octaves above the top line F of the treble clef).
  • Visual guides to key names and locations on the instruments are included to aid understanding of the fingering charts for all Woodwind instruments.
  • Trombones come with position guides for different valve combinations.

For select instruments:

  • Bassoon and Contrabassoon include Treble, Tenor, and Bass clefs.
  • Bb/F Tenorbass Trombone, Bb/F/Gb/D Bass Trombone, Euphonium, and Baritone include Treble, Tenor, and Bass clefs.
  • F/Bb Double French Horn, BBb Tuba, CC Tuba, Eb Tuba, and F Tuba come with Treble and Bass clefs.

The app follows the British Band tradition of transposing notation for non-transposing instruments using Treble clef on brass instruments. This applies to Bb/F Tenorbass and Bb/F/Gb/D Bass Trombones, Euphoniums, Baritones, BBb Tuba CC Tuba Eb Tuba and F Tuba.

When using 'How to Use' guide:

  • Select a written note by touching the staff to display the fingering or play concert pitch on the piano for a transposed note written on the staff.
  • If alternate fingerings are available for a note or trill a button enables scrolling through them.
  • Buttons like 'Play Note' or 'Play Trill' allow you to listen repeatedly to what is displayed. You can use a mute button to access fingerings without hearing any pitches.

For selecting a pitch:

  • Via Staff (transposed for the current instrument): Touch and slide up or down on the staff to select a note or slide right or left of the note for sharps or flats.
  • Via Piano (concert pitch): Drag below the keyboard to move it or touch to play notes. Touch & slide to change the pitch. Glissando up will notate raised values (sharps) while glissando down signifies lowered values (flats).
  • Use up and down arrows to move chromatically without touching the staff or piano keyboard.
